Canada's Renewable Energy Future.

Canada continues to lag behind our global competitors, including the U.S., Spain, Germany, Italy, France and even India and China in terms of our investment attractiveness for renewable energy

Renovation of buildings and the new building boom provide to Canada an opportunity to incorporate renewable sources of heat and power into our building stock and aim for net zero-energy requirements.

A National Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Strategy should maximize energy efficiency and renewable energy and recognize the environmental, economic and social value of renewable energy; including international commitments and cooperation to bring about a global transition to renewable energy and clean, secure energy to developing communities; and be comprehensive with the green heat, and green transport in industry, businesses, homes, communities and First Nations.

a) Which are the other countries that know the importance of the renewable energy in the future and could be Canada΄s competitors?

b) Do you know the two conditions that provide an opportunity to compete with other countries in developing renewable energy resources?

c) What should a National Renewable Energy and an Energy Efficiency Strategy do to improve renewable energy resources? Choose two strategies.
